GRE test is of two types- General and Subject.

The Quantitative ability section consists of multiple choice questions which are mostly problem solving type covering questions from quantitative comparisons, basic high school mathematics which broadly include Arithmetic, Geometry, Algebra and Data analysis.
Each of these three segments has two sections.
The flexibility comes from the fact that preview, editing and tagging features are built into the computer-based format of the test. The math section will always begin with either seven or eight QC questions. The GRE consists of three main sections: Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical Writing.
